Chevy prioritizes safety, which is why every 2026 Chevy Equinox EV contains Chevy Safety Assist, an advanced suite of driver-assist safety systems to protect you and your passengers. Let’s take a closer look at some of these features.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

A cruise control allows you to set a speed that your vehicle will continue to maintain without you having to keep your foot on the accelerator. This helps reduce driver fatigue. ACC takes this to the next level by proactively adjusting your speed as necessary without you needing to intervene. It does this using a camera and radar to identify any vehicle ahead of you.

ACC automatically applies the brakes to maintain your set following distance if the vehicle in front of you slows down. It also includes stop-and-go, so it can bring your Equinox EV to a complete stop if the vehicle ahead brakes, then restart your engine and continue driving when the other vehicle moves again.

Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking

Forward Collision Alert uses radar and a dedicated camera to identify any vehicle in front of you. Once identified, a green icon appears on your screen, and the system measures the distance from your Equinox EV to the other vehicle. This distance is then compared to your current speed, and if it determines you’re tailgating, an amber warning icon will appear and you’ll hear a warning tone.

If a collision is likely, the warning icon changes to red, and you’ll hear high-pitched beeps to alert you to the danger. If you can’t react fast enough, Automatic Emergency Braking will activate and bring your car to an almost instant stop. This fast response can prevent an accident or reduce the damage caused.

Enhanced Park Assist

This feature is standard or available, depending on your trim. It’s designed to make parking in even the most difficult spot safe and hassle-free by guiding and parking your Equinox for you. It’s activated by pressing the Automatic Park Assist button on the console or using the touch screen. The system then uses its ultrasonic sensors to scan the area around you for a space.

When a space is found, you’ll hear a beep, and parking instructions will appear on your screen. The system shows a message when it’s safe to take your hands off the wheel, and it then maneuvers, steers, and brakes by itself as it parks your car. Depending on the situation, the system may make several small adjustments to ensure your vehicle is correctly parked. When parking is complete, a Parking Complete message will appear on your screen.
